17/10/2011 - AAAA POSITION PAPER - VEHICLE MAINTENANCE DATA SHARING
In March 2011, the Hon David Bradbury MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Affairs and Competition Policy initiated an independent inquiry into the sharing of repair and service information in the automotive industry. This inquiry is the direct result of an approach by the AAAA to Mr Bradbury in which we detailed the potential future impact on consumer choice and competition for Australia’s 12 million car owners if the Government does not intervene to require vehicle manufacturers to share vital repair and service information outside their authorised dealer networks. We believe that data sharing by vehicle manufacturers is one of the most critical issues facing the independent aftermarket in the years ahead.

25/08/2009 - AAAA SUBMISSION TO FEDERAL REVIEW OF WARRANTIES
On 26 July 2009 Federal Consumer Affairs Minister Craig Emerson released the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council's (CCAAC's) issues paper for its review of statutory implied conditions and warranties. The CCAAC subsequently called for written submissions from interested stakeholders.
As part of this consultation process the AAAA was invited to lodge a written submission on behalf of the independent aftermarket.
A copy of our submission is attached.
It is likely that we will get the opportunity to present the key points of our submission to the review panel in early September.

24/05/2009 - AAAA POSITION PAPER – BULLBARS
Bull bars should be subject to standards, but the emphasis should be on harmonised, workable and evidence-based regulations and we are increasingly concerned that this is not the case.
The AAAA is endeavouring to engage with each State Transport regulator to assist with this process. The position paper clearly articulates the industry position, as it has been written by the industry with feedback from key stakeholders.
