What the New .au Domains Mean for Your Business

From 24 March 2022, .au website domains are now available for Australian businesses.

This means that Australian registered websites no longer have to end in .com.au, .net.au or .org.au. There is a six month priority registration period for all businesses to register their existing domains with the .au ending, so they are not registered by other parties.

You do not have to give up your existing domain to register a new one. You can register your .au domain through an .au Domain Administration accredited registrar, such as GoDaddy. Click HERE for a full list of accredited registrars. The AAAA recommends that members register .au domain equivalents for all currently registered domains before 20 September 2022 to ensure that they are not registered by others, which can harm your business’ online security.
