JobKeeper Payment Extended

Today the Federal Government has extended the JobKeeper and Jobseeker programs.

Scott Morrison announced that the programs will be extended from the existing September deadline until 28th March 2021, albeit with substantial cuts.

After September, the JobKeeper flat rate payment will be reduced from the current $1500 as follows:

From 28th September this year, JobKeeper 2.0 will involve two payments:

  • A flat rate of $1200 a fortnight for eligible workers who work more than 20 hours a week
  • A flat rate of $750 per fortnight for eligible workers who work less than 20 hours per week

These current payments will run until 4th January, 2020. From 4th January to 28th March 2021, these two payments will scale down further to:

  • A flat rate of $1000 per fortnight for eligible workers who work more than 20 hours a week
  • A flat rate of $650 per fortnight for eligible workers who work less than 20 hours per week

The scheme will cost approximately $16 billion and has been costed until March 28, 2021. The same eligibility requirements for JobKeeper will remain.
